Hi reader,

In my previous email, I shared why it’s so important to work for someone else before you "go solo" as a freelancer or solopreneur.

If you missed that email, don't worry, I wrote all about it in this post.

But what if you’ve already checked that box? ☑️

What if you’ve gone through the phase of working for others, and now you’re ready to build something that is truly yours? 🤔

Beyond just freelancing or offering "done-for-you" services, there are other ways to build an income with more autonomy.

When I say "more autonomy," I’m talking about becoming your own boss in a way where you aren't relying on someone else to "give" you work (whether that’s a 9-5 employer or even a freelance client).

If you are a copywriter like me, this transition gets easier (in a way).

Why? 🤔

Because you already understand the fundamentals of marketing.

You understand how funnels work and how to build them from the ground up.

Since you have in-depth copywriting skills under your belt, you have extra advantage when it comes to deciding what kind of digital assets to build.

For instance, my copywriting background allows me to build and scale digital assets like:

1) Niche Sites & Blogs: Turning content into authority and passive traffic using SEO, article writing, and blogging knowledge.

2) Digital Products: Creating high-converting courses, webinars, templates, and e-books using marketing and copywriting knowledge.

Instead of just selling your time to a client, you’re using those same skills to build "digital real estate" that have the potential to work for you even when you're sleeping.

This is where the possibility of building passive income starts to become a reality.

So, how do you actually start?

What helped me build my own digital assets was actually a stack of knowledge and skills I gathered while practicing as a copywriter.

It wasn't one single experience, but rather a combination of things like:

💼 Client work: Helping my clients build their digital products gave me insights into what works (and what doesn't) before I ever launched my own digital products.

💼 Agency & in-house experience as a copywriter: Working in these environments gave me solid exposure to marketing across different industries, from B2B to B2C.

💼 Invested in courses : I invested in an SEO course by an expert blogger to learn how she monetized her blog through various income streams like affiliate, display ads, and I applied those lessons to my own blog.

So if you ask me....there is no single course or one experience that brought me to where I am today.

It is a collective of experiences, exposures, and skills built over time.

"But Naz, this feels so far-fetched. What's one action I can take now?"

The best thing you can do now is to stack your skills.

If you learn copywriting, don't just stop at the words on the page. You need to take those skills into the real world. Find clients. Get your hands dirty.

👉 Run ads to see how your copy actually performs OR work with a marketer to understand the metrics behind your ad copy.
👉 Collaborate with graphic designers and video editors.
👉 Study how creators produce UGC content.
👉 Learn how brands find and choose influencers to partner with.

Even though these aren't exactly "copywriting skills", they are all deeply related skills that can be "stacked."

The more you understand the ecosystem, the better you'll get at building your digital assets and have autonomy in what you're doing.

That's all from me today.

If you have anything to ask or share with me, feel free to reply this email 😊

I love reading (and responding to) your replies!
