I hit 30-something last month! ๐ŸŽ‚

And I want to share 3 big lessons I've learned (and still trying to learn) โคต๏ธ

1- You're not early, you're not late

I spent my early 20s feeling miserable because I felt like I was late to everything. While my friends were graduating, I was still finishing my bachelor's degree. While they were starting internships, I was struggling to find my first one.

I don't share this often, but I spent 4 years of my youth dealing with an illness and the hospital became my second home.

Back then, I constantly asked why God made me sick so young while my life was put on pause. My friends were living their best lives: traveling, getting engaged, and landing jobs at top companies.

Fast forward to today... Alhamdulillah, I recovered a couple of years ago, and my life turned out far better than I could have imagined back when I was envious of others.

That’s when I realized these are all just phases of life.

You can be at the top or the bottom at any given moment. Nothing happening to you right now defines the rest of your life.

And just because you're comfortable today, doesn't mean life will stay that way forever.

Knowing this sets the foundation of how I live my life.

I know life can make us feel as if we're late to something, especially when other people's lives are so easily accessible on social media.

You get instant updates whenever someone achieves a major milestone, and all of a sudden, you start comparing your life to theirs.

But please don't. Comparing steals the joy of your present moment and amplifies whatever pain you feel today.

2 - Your circle can affect you more than you think

I truly believe that whoever you surround yourself with closely will have a major effect on your life trajectory.

The older I get, the more I realize that friendships survive based on a few key things, including the values you hold.

A lot of people think they need to stay stuck with the same social circle forever out of loyalty, and ended up becoming miserable when their friends change, or start upholding different values.

You don't actually need to stick around, but you don't need to ditch people or burn bridges either.

You have total control over how close you let others get to you (and how close you get to them) and how much you allow them to influence you.

And guess what? A lot of people reinvent their whole social circle in their late 20s, 30s, 40s, and even 50s!

We often assume that by this age, everyone already has their set clique and it will be impossible to make new friends, but that's simply not true!

You can always start fresh by finding people who share your interests.

3- Spend on stuff that matters (to you)

I believe in investing in things that actually "level me up."

For instance, I’d rather spend on a gym membership, annual medical check-ups, buy healthier groceries, skill-building courses, or high-quality clothes that last for years, instead of a designer handbag just to signal status or show that I "belong" somewhere.

Of course, when it comes to money, you have every right to spend your hard-earned income however you like.

But make sure you spend because it aligns with your core values, not because of how you want other people to perceive you.

There you go, 3 big life lessons I learned.

See you soon,
Naz
